Itinerary

Day 1: Fez – Ifrane – Cedar Forests – Middle Atlas – Todra Gorge

Begin your journey with an 8 a.m. pick-up from your hotel or riad in Fez, heading south through the scenic Middle Atlas mountains. Stop in Ifrane, known as "Morocco’s Switzerland," to admire its alpine charm and the famous Atlas Lion statue. Continue to the cedar forests to see ancient trees and meet the friendly Barbary macaques. Enjoy lunch in the town of Midelt before traveling through the Amellago Gorge to reach the dramatic Todra Gorge. In the evening, take a moonlit stroll among its towering canyon walls, then spend the night in a traditional riad nearby.

Day 2: Todra Gorge – Erfoud – Rissani – Erg Chebbi (Merzouga Desert)

Start the day with a morning walk through the breathtaking Todra Gorge, surrounded by towering cliffs and lush palm groves. Then enjoy a scenic drive along the Todra Valley, passing traditional kasbahs, ancient fortresses, and ksour set against vibrant red and ochre landscapes. Stop in Erfoud, famous for its fossil workshops and geological heritage, before exploring the lively market of Rissani, where nomads trade goods and livestock. Arrive in Merzouga at the edge of the majestic Erg Chebbi dunes and spend the night in a riad overlooking the desert.

Day 3: Merzouga Desert – Nomadic Families – Overnight in Desert Camp

After breakfast, set out to explore the sweeping dunes of Erg Chebbi. Visit a nomadic family to gain insight into their traditional way of life, then head to the Tissardmin Oasis, known for its fossil-rich terrain and ancient marine remnants. In Khamlia Village, enjoy the rhythms of traditional Gnawa music and relax with a cup of tea. Later in the afternoon, embark on a camel trek deep into the dunes, catching a spectacular desert sunset along the way. Spend the night in authentic Berber tents ("haimas") at a desert camp, and enjoy a delicious dinner beneath a star-filled sky.

Day 4: Merzouga Desert – Ziz Valley – Midelt – Fez

Start your day early with a climb to the highest dune near the camp to witness a breathtaking Sahara sunrise. After breakfast, return to Merzouga by camel or 4x4. Travel through the vast Tafilalet palm groves in Ziz Valley, one of the largest in the world, and enjoy panoramic views. Stop in Midelt for a relaxing lunch before continuing through the scenic cedar forests on your way back to Fez. Arrive in Fez around 6 p.m. and transfer to your hotel or riad.
